The Company “Pietro Chiesa” tomorrow

The “Pietro Chiesa” is not only an “economical project”; it is also what once was called a “social body”. A free organization of workers that is self-governed on the same legal bases as a co-op.
Our co-op has been faithful to the antique traditions of the Genoese dockland of the first medieval period.
Its principles have been fought and defended during the big battles between the end of the ‘800 and the beginning of the ‘900, collecting a message that reached our port from very far away places, where they were experimenting with new organizational and social models: from New Zealand to Marseille, from Wisconsin to Liverpool.

In our opinion, these principles are not getting old. Actually, we take note of the constant attacks by those that want to alloy work putting it aside, taking away quality and dignity. In this way they threaten democracy, which has always found in work and in workers’ rights its first defenders.
We don’t believe that the co-operation, the material security and the aspiration to a more and more dignified life could be annulled, burnt on the altar for the mere creation of individual wealth, because this is not the right, human, reasonable way to “create a society”.

The “Pietro Chiesa” company commits with its daily testimony and the work of its associates for a tomorrow in which antique principles constitute the foundation for a more fair society, because dignified, human and reasonable.
